Take action now: Help stop the ban on youth model OHVs Action items to share with your club members, racers and fans
As you may know by now, the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA) has effectively banned the sale of youth off-highway vehicles (OHVs) as of Feb. 10, 2009. The AMA is issuing a repeated call for action to help reverse the potentially devastating effect this could have on the sport of OHV recreation. We are also asking for your help, as promoters and club leaders, to spread the word to your club members, racers and fans to encourage them to get involved.
While this move could cripple the future of the sport, it does appear that there may be relief for the use of motorcycles purchased prior to Feb. 10. The Congressional Research Service (CRS) has compiled a list of prohibited acts in the CPSIA. Neither riding a previously purchased motorcycle nor promoting a race that includes those motorcycles is included on that list. Download the CRS list here.
Still, immediate attention is needed to end this ban on the sale and manufacture of youth model OHVs. In addition to the efforts the AMA is putting in on Capitol Hill, all motorcyclists need to help fight this measure. Here are some quick links to background information and ways you can help reverse this decision:
Contact your representatives in Congress by using the Take Action button in the Issues and Legislation section of the AMA website.
Write the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) directly to encourage them to exclude youth model OHVs here.
Click here for a page that includes suggested copy for a letter you can send to the CPSC.
Click here to download a PDF version of the CPSIA.
For regular updates on this issue, please keep a close eye on the AMA website at www.AmericanMotorcyclist.com. You also can sign up to receive AMA Legislative Alerts here.

David has some broken ribs, lung puncture, bruised kidneys, some vertabre's that will heal on their own also a bone thats in the back of the shoulders (I'm not good at medical things) that will heal by its self. No surgeries will he have to have. WOW He is wanting to come home as soon as they will let him go, which may be soon. He will be recovering for a few months. Such great news. The families still need your prayers so keep them going out in that direction. WOW, this has been the best news of the day. We love you David. Thank you God your loving care!

This is from the Lantzer site on David Plavi
The single engine Piper Cherokee plane went down around 6:30 last night (SUNDAY 4TH) in a wooded area of White Township about a half mile from the Jimmy Stewart Airport. Peters says Goldinger was on a sightseeing trip at the time of the crash. Family members at the airport say Goldinger was flying with his son and a friend at the time of the crash. Airport Manager Todd Heming says conditions deteriorated after Goldinger's plane took off. He says there was heavy fog last night as well as a light rain. He says Goldinger made several unsuccessful attempts to land and when they didn't hear from him they worried that he may have crashed. FAA officials say the plane was completely destroyed and the tail was severed from the aircraft. Goldinger and his two passengers were taken to Conemaugh Memorial Hospital in Johnstown.
David Plavi was a passenger on that plane. Rich from Switchback & Danny McAdoo have called with some information on this terrible accident. David is still in a Conemaugh or Indiana Hospital and not able to be moved to a Pittsburgh Hospital until he is stabilized. From what Danny has said is that David has received some very bad injuries. The Plavis are in need of many prayers and thoughts going out for David and his family. Danny will be keeping us updated on David's condition.
January 5, 2009
The PAMX family has a member in need of your Prayers. David Plavi was in a Plane Crash Sunday in Indiana Pa and is currently in Conemaugh Memorial Hospital in Johnstown. Please stay close to the PAMX site for more info.
